I should preface my question by letting you guys know that I've only had SO for a couple of months now, and am still trying to figure a few things out.
The issue at the moment is trombone parts with slides. How is this achieved with the SO trombones? Unless I've missed something, slides are not offered as an effect. Has anyone ever tried to simulate slides, and if so, were the results pleasing, or at the very least adequate? I've never tried to simulate this type of effect, but am I correct in assuming it would be achieved with the portamento script? Would I simply create a "run" of notes, then apply portamento and timing to get it right? Thanks in advance for any tips or suggestions! Jason Watts |

Do you own Goliath? If so, there are a bunch of trombone slides in there. Otherwise, you won't have much luck trying to create them in SO.

No, I don't own Goliath, though maybe I should look into it more. But in the meantime, I have trombone slides in a couple of other libraries. I've just never mixed other brass with SO, and I don't know what the result will be. I guess I'll find out though.

Actually, I'll eat my words. The trombone slides aren't in Goliath, I was thinkijng of a different sound library! Sorry about that.

Oh, that's ok! No worries! I was just mostly hoping there was a method of creating slides with SO so that I didn't have to bring in "outside" samples.
