Hello!
Here's an attempt at a darker and more sad sound with an ounce of hope. Please criticize anything or everything you feel is out of place or could be made better! http://soundcloud.com/danielsymphoni...l-that-is-lost /Daniel |

Hi Daniel,
I enjoyed your work - nice harmonic progression. Around the 1:40 mark the orchestration drops away very suddenly, a little too suddenly for my taste. Also from there it seems like the trumpet and french horn are playing for about 25-30 seconds in one phrase. Although it is definitely playable by a good high school student, I think the phrase could have been broken about the 1:56 mark with a very short breath. Same with the oboe part later.

Nice work, with a good emotional cinematic feel, full sound. I'd call it sweet: the ounce of hope is definitely there. About the drop at 1:40: I think it isn't fast enough. The melody picks up before the decrescendo has completed, and that might make it sound a bit awkward. A short break, or slowing down, might help.

Thanks for the tips guys. I tried to change the transition at 1.40, not sure if it's better. Also tried to give the horns and winds some time to breath here and there. I overwrote the song that was on soundcloud if you want to listen to the changes!
