What do you think?
![]() More percussive, than previous films, although I do think it just is repeating everything from the movies before. Nonetheless I like it . http://collider.com/dark-knight-rise...dtrack/178669/

Sure it repeats, but that last track was goosebumps all the way through

First and foremost, I'm not one who minds admitting being a fan of Zimmer's.
I own copies of his two previous Batscores, in several different editions. On the other hand, I can say that I don't find myself listening to them frequently. From the start, I've always felt that these scores were most powerful, and most effective within the film in question. With that said, I love what I'm hearing! I like it every bit as much as the previous scores. I just tend to find the ability to listen from track 1 to the end a bit difficult. I think these scores appropriately stay out of the way when necessary, and that those moments in the score are not entirely enjoyable alone. On the other hand, when Zimmer pulls out all the stops, those tracks I can listen to again, and again. Zimmer himself said that (as an example) the Joker's edgy, slowly building "theme" from "The Dark Knight" was intended to be the opposite of listenable. He wanted us to hate that theme by the time it's tension was released, and it is (IMO) absolutely, mind-numbingly wretched. And I love it for that! It was so perfectly effective, and yet for me not something I'd listen to outside of the film, except for study purposes possibly. I guess my point is: While I do love what I hear, I know it will be ten times as powerful, as moving, and as batsh!t-crazy-awesome when heard accompanying what will likely be some mind-blowing visuals, and an amazing story. I am so excited, I'm about to wet my Batman underoos! Jason Watts |

As both a Batman fan and a Hans Zimmer fan, I went through a period where I was mildly obsessing over the music for these films. I picked up a few tidbits from various Hans interviews about his ideas and themes.
Very early in the process of composing for Batman Begins, Hans came up with the mandatory "hero theme" for Batman (something catchy that can be hummed as you walk out of the theater), but as the film neared completion, he realized that the Batman character hadn't "earned" the full hero theme yet. Instead, he used bits and pieces of the theme throughout the film (some of these have probably become THE Batman themes of this particular film series). Han's full "hero" theme can be heard at the very end of the Batman Begins credits. It was put there as a way to springboard onto the next film, but as it turns out, one of the main story themes of The Dark Knight is that Batman is NOT a hero, so it wasn't used again! Note: Actually, the "hero" theme was used in The Dark Knight in the scene after the explosions, while Batman is shown standing on the rubble. Hans said in an interview that it was meant to expose the "red herring of the Batman" (I am paraphrasing Hans, I can't find the exact quote right now). Here is the hero theme from the Batman Begins end credits (video is cued up right to the theme): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oW3MI...ailpage#t=415s It was also used in this Batman Begins trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vak9ZLfhGnQ I haven't listened to all of the new material for The Dark Knight Rises, but it will be interesting to see if this full hero theme finally made it onto the film series. Also, I am very impressed with how much thought Hans puts into each and every bit of music he uses in his films. I think with all the bashing that goes on, people haven't taken the time to notice. He might not be classically trained or whatever, but he is a film composer in every sense of the word.

Ofcourse, but I'd want some more original things too, but I guess I am wanting too much :P. I hope it fits the images well, but I guess it will

Yep! I've got a date with Mr. Wayne Friday morning @ 11. Oh, and by the way: If he ends up paralyzed, or dead, it wasn't me! It was the dude with the gimp-mask!

Anyone know why no James Newton Howard this time? I always thought it was an odd pairing and now he has gone...
