Mate, they have already done Play 4 and will not change anything. Usually the manufacturer rarely listens to its users.
I'll bet a dollar! :-)

EDIT: having two Transformers on one track doesn't work well, I assigned The Modwheel to Dynamics in a first Transformer plugin, and Volume to Vib/nonVib in a second Transformer, this works well until I edit the curve in the piano roll, and it becomes just volume again so I'll stick with only the Modwheel Dynamics for now

I don't own any of the Hollywood libraries yet, so I just have a couple of questions:

1. Are you talking about A) live performance in stand-alone, or B) within a host for recording?

If B is the answer...

2. Do you not have a method for changing the CCs around to different physical controllers?

For example, in FL Studio I use the MIDI Out plugin and I can set CC11 to the mod wheel if I need to, and set CC1 for vibrato to a fader, and it works great.

Anyway, I'm not trying to give tips. I'm just curious about the issue, and am afraid I'm misunderstanding it.

Thanks!

The point of this thread is that it would be convenient if the MIDI CC#s for each function of a patch could be assigned by the user within the plug-in, or something to that effect.

I know a lot of synths have a MIDI mod matrix, but the only third-party sampler I know with internally customizable controls is Kontakt. Every DAW I've used has some way of transforming or re-assigning MIDI controls within the host itself anyways, so, to me, this is kind of a weird suggestion unless the OP is planning to use PLAY in stand-alone mode.

I'll take you up on that bet. My experience is that Eastwest usually listens well to its userbase.

That said I think it would be nice to be able to change the controllers.

I also think it would be a good idea to move this thread to the new 'ideas / suggestions' subforum.

I would also like to have a way to assign any controller to any function in Play (a midi learn feature). That should be the target design.

However, if it is too costly to be implemented, I would rather prefer to have the dynamic assigned to the expression pedal for all Hollywood librairies. It is really more convenient to use your foot and your two hands are free. Of course, I understand that most users have a mod wheel rather than an expression pedal.

Korg Nanokontrol or Lemur tablet -> problem solved.
I agree: It would be great if you could assign CCs yourselves. But this is not this huge of a problem. I prefer working with faders or a tablet instead of the modwheel anyway.

When PLAY Pro comes out, you'll be able to do this and more.

I do as well. Although some consistency between the libraries would be nice. Modwheel controls dynamics in Brass and vibrato in Strings. Now it seems it controls vibrato in Woods as well. But it's not that big of a deal.

It is still very useful to be able to assign CCs, even with a huge midi controller because different libraries use different CCs. I want the same faders to do the same thing regardless of the library, which is only possible if I can remap CCs (or alternatively use a transformer).
