Although normally, I don't listen to Metal, these guys really got me. I already considered "toxicity" a bomb when I first heard it a long time ago and I recently rediscovered the whole album which had been gathering dust on my shelf for years (I noticed that it even was recorded at Cello studios
) and some of the newer stuff like B.Y.O.B or U-Fig. I really appreciate their quite original sound and the political lyrics. Anybody with me?

I've heard many interesting things about the guitarist, though I've listened to very little of their music....

I'm not into modern rock at all, whatsoever. But, because of siblings, I listen to their music around the house once in a while. And I must admit, these guys are pretty good. 'Vocals are great, in my opinion.

Given that I used to be a pretty serious guitar player, I have to at least try and keep up with modern rock bands. System of a down is one of the few that I actually like. I also give them credit for such a unique sound, especially at a time when every other damn group sounds identical. System of a down is so original, they are almost humorous.

I found their first two (maybe three) albums really inspired, and really inspiring. Sadly I haven't even given the new two a listen yet
![]() I really wish they would stop the guitarist singing though, Serge just has a far better voice. |

Heh. Back in '98 they were virtually unknown over here. I happened to be at that gig where they opened for Slayer - well, actually some mastermind had put them between Vader and Slayer - and the audience couldn't be more confused. Who are those clowns?! What's with the singing voice?! Boooo!!!
...And then there was much projectiles. Ah, sandwiches, flying in the air for the first time in their existence... The fluttering ham... An astounding sight of unparalleled beauty. But that was then - simply the wrong place at the wrong time. Soon, the masses would acknowledge the band's originality and everything would turn out just peachy. That being said, I like much of their debut album and some bits from the 2nd one. They seem to have lost all of their innovative steam after that.

Funny story, Staalo. Really makes me wish I had been there. But I still think there are some gems even on the latest two albums.

from the music that i've heard from SOAD, they do seem to have an original sound, and interesting lyrics as well.
