I admit that my abilities stop at composition. When it comes to the audio side of things, I am often lost.
So here's my question for the pros out there: What are envelopes? I see all these parameters that can be modified in the EWQLSO Kompakt player, but I have no idea how I'd ever utilize any of them. I know simple stuff like reverb, delay, etc. But when it comes to modding sound beyond that, I really need help. Thanks! --Timothy |

Envelopes usually refer to giving some aspect of the sound a "shape". Most commonly it is used to
This should give you a good idea: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ADSR The most common use of an 'envelope' is to control the amplitude (loudness) of a sound during the time that you hear that sound. There are other types of envelopes as well though, such as panning envelopes (controlling the position of the sound over time) and filter envelopes (controlling how much of a filter to use or what range of frequencies to filter out). Hope this helps, - Matt
