Default Elves

Hi friends

This is a short piece I have written during this weekend as a dedication to a good friend of mine. She is not in her best moments. Due that she is very fond to the fairy tales I composed this simple piece as a gift.

The piece is still not finished, lacks percusion and some more brass, but you can have an idea So, if you can help me to improve the piece, it is very welcome.

Elves

Thanks a lot for your listen and advice.

Hi Luis,

very nice and good sounding piece.
It keeps a pastoral and joyful mood.
Great work for the basses behind the dialogue of strings and woodwinds.

Very nice and colorful paint! I mean not only the attached paint, but the music itself.
Another lovely piece from my friend!

Cheers,

Enrico

O Yes Luis, that's very, very nice.
I enjoyed a max. It's a so happy msic.
And it does really like a fairy tail. Thinking about the Grieg's tales.

How to improve? Another theme, played by the woods with a rhythmic in opposition to the cellos playing at 1'07 etc., and then the coda as you did at 2'10 to the end, and a bit longer.
As a spiralled move.

But...
it's quite nice as it is, you know? Your friend will have a good fun listening to that piece.

Yours
Mayer

Enrico,
I am glad that you liked the piece. Is not complex and more happy that "The Break", but we have to feel comfortable in every mood.
Thanks for your nice words

Thanks for your advice, sometimes is better to be conservative with the things that already works. Maybe the percusion or the brass could change the pastoral perception of the woods.

Luis,

Yes, there is no doubt that you've taken a different approach to "Elves" than I did. This is wonderfully orchestrated and has some "divine/religious" qualities to it!

I love the flow and the lightness of the orchestration. I think you did a great job!

Tom..

Nice orchestration and writing. The only problem I had with it was the basses sounding muddled.

Hi Luis,

Very nice piece. Classical touch I would say. I like it my friend.

Keep up on good work!

Hey Tom

Thanks for your interest in my "Elves", they were sleeping during some weeks until you recalled them. My approach was inspirated in my friend ilustrations of tales, and some Grieg listening (So actually are "Norway Elves").

Itīs interesting to see how many different approaches can be created for a single image or argument.

Nice to have you here, my best wishes.
Luis
