Hi Lenny,
Still such a strange thing, running on an intel mac inside Logic! Do you have Logic 7.2? Yes, Kontakt 2 will load all our Kompakt libraries, and allow you to edit the patches, add effects, and do all the other various things built in to that application (though it can be more confusing than Kompakt at times!) Kins: Sorry I missed your message (it happens sometimes). You may want to try removing the .plist files for your East West product found in [home]/Library/Preferences, reinstalling the Kompakt application, then downloading the NI Service Center from their unprotected updates page. Try registering with that tool, then running Kompakt, then running Kontakt... their registration scheme can get a bit tricky if it gets stuck. -Sam |

Hi Sam,
I have Logic Pro 7.0 and Yes, everything is loading through the Kompakt player through AU Instruments which goes to sub-menu named Native Instruments then EWQL Gold XP. And yes, I am running on an Imac 2.33 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo. Today, I actually bounced to wav and mp3 files on small pieces with two or three brass/perc channels just fine without Logic shutting down. And, by the way, everything sounds great! I am very pleased with the samples. I work with live orchestra in the studio a lot, and I'm most impressed with the patches. But I will get Kontakt 2.2 and proceed. Many thanks for your help. Lenny |

Hey Lenny,
Logic Pro 7.0? You should really upgrade to 7.2. Apple does not support running Logic under rosetta, and if you have Logic 7.0, that's what you're doing. That means the entire application is being emulated, and explains why it can load PPC plugins. Your performance will go way up with that $20 upgrade (I think)! -Sam |

I was able to get EW libraries loaded into Kontakt 2.2 without fully installing the old software to register. The trick is to copy the registration tool and program file from an old installation and use those to complete the initial authorization and launch. From there on out you can delete them and avoid installing software you don't need...

Aha! So that's it. I'll upgrade to Logic 7.2 - just read a great online article about the increased performance on intels with 7.2.
Now, my big question is: How to correctly re-install (or un-install) my EWQL Gold XP with Kompakt, using Kontakt 2.2? Can you take me through a basic sequence so I won't mess up everything I've done so far. Do I need to re-install everything, all 8 Dvd's, nks, etc. How will Logic know to bring up Kontakt 2.2 as a plug-in rather than Kompakt? And when I upgrade to Logic 7.2, which do I do first. Sorry to ask such elementary questions, but you have been a 'big' help to me by identifying that it was Logic 7.0 causing the problems under rosetta. Hope they're paying you well. It is very nice to know that we get such good tech support for the price we pay for the good software. Thank you, Sam! Lenny |

You shouldn't have to re-install anything you've already installed. You *shouldn't* need to reauthorize either.
After installing the Logic 7.2 update and Kontakt 2.2, go through the instructions at the beginning of this thread, starting at step 6. If it doesn't work, take my advice to Kins at the top of the page. You don't need to touch the library folder with all the samples in it. That can stay put. -Sam |

You've probably answered this before, but I just got the EW Gold library, have DP and am running on an Intel Mac. Would I be better off waiting for the Play upgrade or buying Kontakt 2? Or is there anything else I can do to use the samples in DP?

Eidda, for right now you can always download the Kontakt 2.2 demo from Native Instruments, which would allow you to use your samples in DP. The PLAY upgrade will offer improved performance and will definitely be worth upgrading to if you can wait!

I have an Intel Mac and I recently bought Gold Pro. I tried the steps listed at the front of this thread and if I double-click on the Gold Pro it uses Kompakt. Most of the sample will play from here (although some files its not finding). But, when I go to try to use it either directly from Kontakt or through Pro Tools, the Gold Pro library does not appear. I have Garritan Personal Orchestra and installed an update for it to 2.2 of Kontakt. It still shows correctly as a listed library, but Gold Pro does not. I looked in Pro Tools and it does not list Kompakt as an available plug in.
How do I get this to work. I am really anxious to add the additional East West sounds to my sample library. Best Regards, David |

Hi David,
It sounds as though the installation isn't fully completed, if you bought the Gold Pro Bundle check out these steps to insure proper installation (if its not finding some files then you have to make sure that you have combined the original gold .nks files with the gold pro xp .nks files in the gold pro xp library folder): http://support.soundsonline.com/faq/...=69&artlang=en Also make sure that you are on the latest update of Kontakt 2 (not Kontakt Player 2 that came with Garritan) for Intel Macs, you should be able to just navigate to your Gold Pro XP Instrument File in the file browser window in Kontakt 2 (on the left). Kompakt will not show up as a plug-in in Pro Tools or other applications on your Intel Mac, its the plugin versions that are not compatible. If you still experience problems then contact techsupport@eastwestsounds.com. -Jonathan |
