Thanks for the fine orchestra-playing ! You have managed to make the Hollywood-strings fit
Vivaldi.
The dynamics is well balanced and not exaggerated. And nice job with the choir. When I use the
choir, it sounds more like a choir of “Data”-clones from “Star Trek” . Not so with your work!
Having the “Mahler-choir” of a “thousand” to sing Vivaldi isn't easy , but I think you have
managed that very fine. I must say, though, that sometimes I feel the choir is lagging somewhat
behind the orchestra (1:16, 1:28 1:41 etc.) That may be nice in Verdi's Requiem but not in
Vivaldi.

Its a delicate balance, but sometimes also I think the orchestra could benefit from slightly
more dynamics and a clearer articulation. Some of the chords in the sequence starting 0:16 may
benefit from not only emphasis on the first note, but the whole chord. That way the relationship
between the chords may be clearer.

The end, at 2:16, the winds are playing legato and the strings (violins, violas) short notes. The
strings need to be “dragged” more out, somewhat.

All this is just minor things, though. All in all, a very convincing job.

Hi Roberto!

Very nice orchestrations and choir. I just love Vivaldi. The only thing tha I heard that was the intro of the Choir when singing Gloria at 00:34, to me it sounded as if they are "not sure" when the cut off is, but its probably just the sylable adjustment in SC. Make the second part of Gloria "RIA" more pronounced like the second time they sing it the sylables are more definate. In the section marked 0:49-0:58 with the diminuento the orchestra to me, is too quiet. I would bring that up in unison with the choir. Out side of that, I must commend you on the orchestration and Choir, as all your work is just gorgeous. I am working on a piece now and anticipate your comments as well. I love this piece and I hope that I can create and compose as well as you someday!
Thanks
Steve

Well done Roberto!

SC sounds very natural to me. I never managed to get such a natural sound from SC. I think I will have to take some lessons from you

Regards,
Bruno

Hi Roberto,

Again a very good job with the orchestra and the choirs. Your performance is almost as perfect as a real one. The baroque sound is well achieved and in some moments I almost can perceive a real orchestra, a real choir and a good conductor.

The only thing that is not fully achived for my taste is the balance between the orchestra and the choir, for my ears the choir should be a bit more prominent.

Also my congratulations for your second success in the contest. All the three pieces you posted could deserve my vote, but I had to choose only one.

Good work and happy new year
Luis

Hey Rob,

I read the comment posted by Halvor and I agree about the fact that you successfully managed playing the Hollywood strings like the "Solisti Veneti" and that's great, as well as the choir (as always ).

Have a nice sunny time,

Enrico

Hi Roberto,

Firstly, congratulations on becoming a beta tester!

I can't really add anything else to what's already been said by Halvor_H...

The choir sounds amazing to me, very natural.. so my only "perceived problem" in this work is that the symphonic instruments still need a tiny bit more attention.

The only reason I didn't consider this one for my vote is because the notes were written by Vivaldi. This is not meant to belittle you in any way, but when I am considering contest entries I will lean more towards voting for an original work since the notes and orchestration must be chosen in addition to the technical work (so your other two great entries I really did take into serious consideration).

You never cease to amaze me with your mastery of those choirs!

Cheers,

- Matt

Bravo Roberto!
And congratulations for your promotion to Beta-tester

I had the same remark as Steve about the diminuendo in the section marked 0:49-0:58. I think it's a bit too quiet to be natural. But other than that you did a great job as usual.

Hey, this could be the beginning of a big SC project: the first fully virtual version of Vivaldi's Gloria. I throw in my 'Terra Pax'! Anybody else?

Frakir.

Hi Roberto,

I liked it a lot too . There is just a time at middle where instruments seem a bit tiny, not wide, like orchestra and choirs weren't playing together (spacially on different panes), and the sound didn't diffuse in the stereo field. Perhaps you could use some mastering effects to make it wider and more dynamic. But the result is close to a real orchestra, especially for strings spicatto.

cheers,
Jerome

Having sung this numerous times I'm well acquainted with the piece.

First of all. Wow. I'm really surprised at how close you've managed to come with this.

There are some balancing issues and the first set of "Gloria"s sound a bit off.

But wow.
