Default Enough Computer power??

Cubase4
Kontact2
EWQLSO Platinum
Gypsy
VOP
SD2
Fab4
EZ Drummers
Virtual Guitar
Virtual Bassist
and firewire video

Can I run all of that on one MacPro 2.66/ 4Gb Ram, or should I buy another computer just for the EWQLSO?
I have another 2 PC's just for Gigastudio, mainly for the SAM Trumpets, brass, horns.

Well, that depends... if you want to use those plugins all at the same time then you might need a room full of computers.

I think for Platinum it is still recommended to run it on several systems... It's pretty massive so you'll probably run into bandwidth issues more than procesing/memory issues.

I score for movies, so I need to have all the sound(around 90 patches) in front of me when I open a template. the duration of a project is around 20 minutes, thats the length of a reel. Although I don't use all 90 patches in a single cue, I usually ended up use most of it thru the whole reel.
My question: can one powerful computer handle a large orchestra piece mainly using EWQLSO?
would it help if I have 4 hard drives?

I'm currently scoring a film project using: Plat XP, Gold XP, Colossus, Stormdrum, Choirs (just a bit), Strad, RMX, and various Logic instruments on one Mac Pro, 2.66, 5 gig ram.

Smooth as silk for the most part. My template only opens about 50-60 patches and it takes a minute or two to load, but for the most part it's very good.

I don't have any of the new Play instruments yet - but the day is surely approaching.

Oh yeah, get fast hard drives. I use 10,000 rpm Raptor SATA drives.

Through one PC and 4 gigs of ram, I have templates that hold 76 (un-purged) EWQL patches from various libraries (AND STILL HAVE HEADROOM FOR OTHER vsts) and have basically a Basic Full Orchestral Template within Cubase4 as well. Now I have no idea about the new play software or how much Ram just the software with eat and how well it does with multiple instances. that being said I get 1.2 gigs of samples loaded wit headroom for one or two other efficient VSTs, but you will be the only one to KNOW for sure what your system can handle.

If you find yourself not being to load over a certain amount think about loading some of you patches purged in K2 since you say that you do not use all of you patches for every score.

Fast HDs will help with overall playback performance of your samples but will not enable you load more samples or vsts. That is all ram, and depending on the vst could be CPU, for the VSTs you listed it is all ram (less the new PLAY stuff I know nothing about). So, if yo do get another computer keep that in mind. I have more of a problem with mixing, dealing with the plugins that eat a lot of CPU than I do with loading samples.
