Default Hollywood vs Symphonic gold...differences

Hello everyone from east to west and beyond.
Can anyone tell me the differences between the Hollywood and Symphonic Orchestra gold, please.
I'd be interested in one or the other but I wouldn't want to 1) make the wrong choice and 2) unnecessary overkill of a purchase that wouldn't fit my needs.

I already own;
Fab Four
Play 6

My influences are The Beatles (of course), Alan Parsons, Dan Fogelberg...classic rock, with a touch of classical mixed in.

I'd appreciate any insight you might have.

Also, is this the right place to be asking questions such as these?

Thank you,

Hi Jon,

Symphonic Orchestra is the older library of the two. It's easier on your computer (resources-wise), has a wet sound (reverb is baked in) that I personally find gorgeous, but doesn't have nearly as much modern scripting technology in there.

Hollywood Orchestra is newer, needs more resources (although Gold is lighter on your system than Diamond, of course), but the true legato is in most cases way better than the legato capabilities of Symphonic Orchestra. It's also recorded in a room, not a hall, so you'll need some extra reverb on there in most cases.

Since you're mainly doing rock stuff, I'm guessing you don't have the most powerful system or a master-slave setup? System resources wise, I'd recommend Symphonic Orchestra. Should be great for what you're going to do with it. BUT with Hollywood being dry, there's a chance it mixes better with your music than the wet sounds of Symphonic.

Thanks for the in-depth, detailed answer!
I think I'll be using Hollywood Orchestra then, my rig will be able to run it and I'd rather have some more modularity in the way you mix the sounds and apply effects to them, thanks to the "drier" sounds.
